NepalUpclose has now launched a points system for its registered users. When you do various activities in NepalUpclose.com, we may award you points. Points will get accumulated in your account. You may then use the points to get certain benifits in future.

Currently, here is how you can earn points:

You can earn points when you post an ad in NepalUpclose.com. ‘Classified Ads’ in NepalUpclose.com is a free ad system. The ads that you publish are reviewed by NepalUpclose.com and you may be awarded 25 points.
You can earn points when you post a comment in any of the NepalUpclose.com news post. The comments posted are reviewed by NepalUpclose.com and you may be awarded 10 points for normal comments, or 50 points for outstanding comments.

Note that points are awarded only to genuine and purposeful posts and activities. We may also charge you credit points for indecent activities.

Here are some benifits that you may purchase using the points you have in future:

Purchase or get discounts for the NepalUpclose.com membership
Publish unlimited number of classified ads. Currently, you can publish only upto 3 ads in a month.
Promote your classified ad in various NepalUpclose.com pages. Currently, the ads are listed only in Classifieds section.
Purchase game chips to play Marriage game.

You will be able to get latest news from various Nepali news sources right inside your twitter account. In order to not have tweet floods, we will only be tweeting featured news and you-may-also-like news sections.

In addition to news and blog contents, we will also continue to tweet about latest updates to NepalUpclose, and will also share our findings like we have been doing.

Three new features are launched today:

1. Videos:
Now you can watch popular Nepali videos from youtube right inside NepalUpclose.com.

2. Music:
Now you can listen to Nepali songs right inside NepalUpclose.com. The section is powered by Dhakatopi.com. You can listen to huge number of Nepali artists. There are also some playlists available for you.

3. Classified ads:
Now you can find classified ads. You also can post your ads for free. You can filter the ads by location and category.

Here are the new features to NepalUpclose.com:

1. Categorized News:
It was so hard to find news of desired category. All news came up in single boxes. Now, the news are categorized to tabs. The categories are Main News, Society, Economy, Entertainment, Sports, Interview, Opinion and World.

2. Paging for the news:
It was not possible to find old news in NepalUpclose. It was a shame when a news that you know that was there is not there any more. That is why we have added paging to the news, so that you can have access to previous news too.

3. Featured News section:
The section lists the latest hot news.

4. ‘You may also like’ section:
The section lists popular articles from various other sites, especially from Nepali sites like eNasha, VOW magazine, etc

5. ‘Photo Feature’ section:
Yes, a picture speaks more than a thousand words.

NepalUpclose.com now has a mobile version

NepalUpclose.com has now released the mobile version of the news page.

Here are the features of the mobile version:

You can access the mobile version by typing http://www.NepalUpclose.com in your mobile web browser. You do not have to remember any additional URL.
You can read all the news headlines from different news sources in a single page.
The mobile page should be good for all the phone sets that has XHTML/HTML browser. We have already tested the page in different sets.
The codes behind the page is very compact, so that minimum data is transferred for maximum of news. You will not have to worry about data charges for the page visit. For viewing NepalUpclose mobile homepage, you will only be charged about a rupee in Nepal Telecom prepaid service.

Currently, we have not implemented “Read full post” of the news/blog posts. This is because the news/blog sources do not have a mobile version to show the post. So, you can only read the news headlines and its news snip.

Right now, NepalUpclose is aggregating about 100 selected Nepali blogs. The bloggers are Nepali people living in different parts of the world and sharing their valuable opinions and experiences. NepalUpclose is continuously looking for more and more blogs and targets to reach all the blogs of Nepal. If your blog is not yet listed and want to have it listed soon, please send us your blog links.

For the ease for the readers, our blogs listing is divided into categories like News, Regional, Community, Personal, Various, and Literature. We look forward to add more categories. You can recommend us the category of your blog to ensure your blog is listed in proper place. Please note that a blog can fall into one category only.

Currently, a blog will show up maximum of three posts written in last 30 days. So, if you don’t have any new post within last 30 days, your blog will not come up. The posts from different blogs inside a category are sorted by latest post first. Otherwise, besides the date, all blogs have equal rankings on our site.

When your blog post is listed, we also are displaying a blog image. The image is 15 pixels high and is in PNG format. The width will be less than 100 pixels. We will not use animated pictures. You can send us your image for your blog, and we will use it.
